1. Hire Terms
All vehicle rentals with Car Hire are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Sutton, you must be at least 21 years old; specific vehicle categories may have different age requirements, and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence suitable for the vehicle type is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Payment details and a security deposit must also be provided. Please review the Rental Agreement for any further conditions.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Sutton office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, please conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. To avoid additional charges, ensure the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and billed accordingly. The vehicle must also be returned with the same level of fuel as at the start of the rental; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur extra fees, so please contact us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that occur during your rental period, along with a related administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to minimize your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except when additional insurance is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of your insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- The vehicle may not be used for any illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-road driving. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, within specified passenger and weight limits. Additionally, driving outside the designated geographical areas requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Sutton Car Hire disclaims responsibility for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount you paid for your rental in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
